Telos EVM is an Ethereum Virtual Machine like the Ethereum main net that operates on the Telos Blockchain to take advantage of the higher capacity and lower operating costs of Telos. Any valid smart contract written in Solidity (0.5.16 recommended) can be deployed to Telos EVM as byte code and operate as it would on the Ethereum network, at far lower costs and higher performance. Telos EVM offers feature-parity with Ethereum at a consistent speed of two blocks per second with each of these blocks having much higher carrying capacity. Telos EVM gas fees are negligible (~1% or less of Ethereum gas fees) and have a fixed gas cost for simpler execution. These facts mean that front-running transactions by paying more for gas to jump the line on other transactions is not possible on Telos EVM.

In all other respects, using Telos EVM is identical to using Ethereum. Users interact through Metamask, block explorers, or Web3-enabled websites exactly as they are accustomed to without needing to interact with Telos beyond the easy-to-use free account generator at app.telos.net.
