TCD Chronicle: November 2023
What's New on Telos
A Word From the TCD’s Head of ZK Technologies — Alberto Garoffolo
As planned, during the month of November, we heavily focused on crafting the whitepaper, formalizing the design elements discussed in previous months and now deemed "stable." Currently, concerning the protocol design, all aspects seem finalized except for a mechanism, for which we implemented two significant improvements this month. These enhancements provide the advantage of making the protocol more modular and flexible. The analysis in terms of the security impacts of these improvements seems fine so far and will be finalized over the next few days. During the next month we will continue crafting the whitepaper targeting its finalization in a few weeks.
During the past month, we also conducted an in-depth investigation into the tradeoffs in terms of performance among three different hash functions. The analysis covered benchmarks both in terms of primitive and proving performances. In particular, we identified a hash function with favourable characteristics for our protocol, given its ratio of proving to primitive performance. An analysis of the potential performance gain of the primitive remains to be conducted by implementing the algorithm directly optimized in assembly, as has been done, for example, with Poseidon in Plonky2.
A Word From the TCD’s Head of Engineering — Jesse Schulman
November was a very busy month for Telos, with the addition of a new CEO we worked a lot on planning and building out our 2024 roadmap. Great progress was made on the 1.5 release with a number of issues being finally resolved. Work on 2.0 has begun as well in November, with the team very excited to begin focusing on the new EVM RPC that will bring further compatibility to TelosEVM. Telos Wallet received several new features in support of NFT/Digital Collectibles as well as defi-related improvements. Overall the team is very excited to share our plans for 2024 and to start the year off with full steam ahead on delivering towards our new roadmap!
TCD Roadmap 2023 —
We have officially released our 2024 roadmap! This year, we are poised to witness significant advancements in four critical domains: Scalable Proof Protocol, K2-18 (our zkEVM gaming chain), Telos EVM + Telos Zero, and BASS. For a comprehensive understanding of our roadmap and detailed insights into our plans for 2024, we invite you to watch our Town Hall 2 presentation, where we delve into these topics in greater depth.
