Plonky2 Goldibear: Now Open Source and Ready for the Community!

We are thrilled to announce the public release of Plonky2 Goldibear on GitHub, our cutting edge implementation of the Plonky2 proving system, now able to work both on Goldilocks and BabyBear fields. This release marks a significant milestone in our commitment to open-source development and empowering the community with powerful cryptographic tools.

Plonky2 Goldibear delivers unparalleled performance improvements in recursive proof composition, particularly over the BabyBear field. Key features include:

• Optimized gates and gadgets for the BabyBear field.
• Integration of Plonky3's advancements in field arithmetic and hash primitives, ensuring adaptability and forward compatibility.
  

With Plonky2 Goldibear, we’ve introduced optimized gates and gadgets to enable efficient recursive proof composition over the BabyBear field. Recursive proofs allow multiple proofs to be aggregated into a single proof, significantly reducing verification complexity while improving performance. The support for BabyBear marks a significant milestone in our recursive proof capabilities, unlocking new possibilities for cryptographic applications.

• Aggregation of 2 Proofs over BabyBear Field: 520 ms
• Wrapping a Risc0 proof into a Plonky2 Goldibear proof: 900 ms

Impact on the SNARKtor Protocol

Plonky2 Goldibear is actively being integrated into the SNARKtor protocol.

This integration is expected to provide an additional boost in performance, enhancing the capabilities of our cryptographic solutions.

We are also pleased to announce that we are preparing to release SNARKtor Milestone 1  in the next few weeks to showcase its latest advancements, where Goldibear will play a pivotal role.
